WHO IS THIS AIMED AT?
The ultimate is aimed at anyone that does slower moving activities outside such as golf, bowls, hiking, dog walking, hunting, fishing, gardening, sailing, motorcycling, spectating at sports events and general workwear.
INSTANT HEAT
As soon as you pull on the ultimate baselayer you are warm, this is due to the unique mix of fabrics as follows:
Acrylic 68%
Nylon 21%
Wool 7%
Polyester 2%
Polyurethane 2%
Comparing this to a normal baselayer (which is mainly made of 100% polyester) it takes time to warm up as it needs to seal your body heat in between your skin and the garment, creating a warm layer of air.
HEAT MAINTAINED
The ultimate maintains heat by extra long fibres which gently rub against your skin as your body moves creating heat. Thus the ultimate is warm to start with and maintains its heat via the unique construction of the garment. A normal baselayer can only keep you warm by using compression and as such it must be very tight.
FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT
As well as being incredibly warm the other benefit is that you get incredible freedom of movement due to the patented knitting process and the mix of 5 fabrics. The garment is unlike any other baselayer in that it does not use compression as the main method of maintaining heat. Other baselayers focus on compression as the fundamental part of heat retention and as such they MUST be super tight – thus restricting movement.
DO YOU SWEAT IN IT?
The ULTIMATE has a complete focus on warmth however the polyurethane in the garment does give it some wicking properties but this garment is designed for the really cold days where sweat is the least of your concerns.
In summary the ULTIMATE baselayer is 5 times warmer than the market leader as proven by BOKEN Institute, it has a CLo rating of 0.71 (this is the heat retention ratio) as opposed to the leading brand which is 0.14 – this heat is created and maintained by the unique knitting process and mix of fibres. Because compression is not the main element in keeping you warm you get much more freedom of movement than with a normal baselayer.
